ARTWORK // Turmeric Design interprets BLOT for Smokehouse Deli

Kriti - whose Turmeric Design studio - is chugging out fresh and happy typographic work in Delhi, and their latest work is the new Smoke House Deli restaurant in Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi. A visual decor concept system designed by The Busride (Mumbai) for the restaurant has been taken forward by Kriti, and also features some recent history from the village and its various art / music collectives. Here are 2 small parts of the entirely drawn out decor (!) which ft BLOT! (and a take on Funny Feral's now classic line- 'I Like Small Stamps That Taste Funny' >>

ARTWORK // Turd of Paradise - Nucleya Remix

So I was sitting around listening to Nucleya and somehow got around to re-organizing some of the botanical renderings into a larger life form. Somewhat mutated but hopefully it catches the drift of some of the recent, but always interesting music that Nucleya is making. Check him out and look out for this guy soon as he makes his way into our Martian project.

ARTWORK // Exploring Martian Botany

Here are some more explorations from the Mars project (still untitled). I was exploring a partly generative direction working with the mograph options in C4D. Still dont know much about UV Mapping, so exploring a rudimentary way of colouring small modules and then replicating them to create larger surfaces and forms. Its interesting how much an exponential approach makes the creation of units a fairly minimal exercise. These are ideas for Martian Botanical life. More on all this soon.

Press // Featured in Osnabrueck (!)

So we got featured in the local press in Osnabrueck, Germany where I have been residing for the EMAF (European Media Arts Festival) Have not much of a clue what I said but I can that there is BLOT, UnBox mentioned and the ATSA fellowship and Goethe-Institut India, which completes the picture somewhat. Great festival, Amazing film programme, and I got to see a retrospective of visual music films from the 1920s till now over 3 evenings - i am still in a daze and inspired beyond abstraction. Thanks to everyone for having me here. I am now off to Paris.

GIGS // BLOT! opening for Richie Hawtin

Old News but just found the flyer :-)

GIGS // BLOT! @ Blend, Chennai

BLOT // SNAFU out in stores now

After years of dreaming, our debut album Snafu is now available on Universal Music India / Contra-Bass at (most) music stores pan India. A big hug and a bigger thank you out to each and every one of you who've showed up for our gigs (and even to those who are contemplating it) & have supported us, UnMute Agency , our collaborators and all our friends who have helped make this happen (sniff sniff)

PRESS // On Radio with Sarthak and Adam for SNAFU

Just played out a few tracks this morning at Hit95 's studio in Delhi. We love adam :) Moo! This was following our long drawn album publishing deal that is finally out in the market now with ContraBass / Universal in India.

GIGS // with Phono, New Delhi

We're playing a Dj set alongside Phono & Moniker / Wild City DJ at Out of the box, HKV. Saturday 27.4

SOUNDS // New Mix Reviews

Thank you guys for the amazing response to our set on #TGTR 64 w/ Nikhil Chinapa - The set will be up for D/load soon :)

PROJECTS // Some more Martian news

Here are some more sketches and explorations for the Mars Project. It takes so much longer to make basic things in 3D (read novice). But its a nice start. In any case, as in most of our work, this is going to be a mash-up so everything goes and the challenge is composition across media as much as it is the creation of media / content.

PROJECTS // Early previews of the Mars Project

Here are some early looks at the sketches for our new project - as yet untitled. We are hoping for a transmedia project that can span a small graphic book, a music album, some video, some apparel and a neat little performance. You will see the larger story soon. These are some spreads from the graphic book.

GIGS // European Media Arts Festival, Osnabrueck, Germany

So we did some visuals for the closing party of the wonderful EMAF - which is the oldest media arts festival in Europe (31 years now!) I had the chance to spend a few weeks here as part of the ATSA (Art Think South Asia) Fellowship, and its been great! We are hoping to get a partnership with the good folks here and see them at UnBox next year I hope.

Artwork // Updated T Shirt - Future Botanical Prequel - The Ascent to Mars

UnBox // Isometric Animation 02

Some more screenshots from some more UnBox experiments in motion IDs. Everything is always changing into something else. Nothing is lost. Again exploring a generative system for creating these with simple units that work together. I like the stills since they come out in many different combinations and make it possible to explore colour families in a simple, pretty way.
